The Jacksonville Jaguars hammered the Indianapolis Colts 42-7 on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at EverBank Stadium, in a five-touchdown rout that moved Jacksonville to 5-2 and left Indianapolis at 2-6 with a season that, in the words of one local assessment, is clearly and truly over. Trevor Lawrence threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns, Bhayshul Tuten piled up 159 all-purpose yards, and Rayuan Lane III scored on a 92-yard pick-six, as the Jaguars won their first divisional game of the year in their first true home game in eight weeks.

• Bhayshul Tuten had 159 all-purpose yards, including a 39-yard touchdown run through four tackle attempts and a late scoring catch.

What Happened

Jacksonville scored on its first drive and never looked back. The opening march began at the Jaguars' own 2-yard line and covered 98 yards, keyed by a 46-yard catch-and-run from Brenton Strange before Brian Thomas Jr. grabbed a 14-yard touchdown pass from Lawrence over the middle. Thomas Jr.'s return to the scoresheet mattered for Jacksonville: the receiver's form has been questioned all season, and head coach Liam Coen had said publicly he would bet on Thomas Jr. being productive this week.

The second quarter broke the game open. Lawrence sidestepped an unblocked Colt and fired a 31-yard cross-field strike to rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher for a touchdown, then Tuten steamrolled through four Indianapolis tackle attempts on a 39-yard touchdown run. Lane's pick-six — a deflected Daniel Jones pass returned 92 yards with 10 seconds left in the half — made it 28-0 at the break, and Jacksonville led 42-7 by the end of the third quarter.

Indianapolis' only score came on a 6-yard Jones pass to a wide-open Josh Downs early in the third quarter, ending the shutout bid. Jacksonville answered immediately: after Josh Hines-Allen sacked Jones on fourth down, Chris Rodriguez Jr. burst straight up the middle from 28 yards for a touchdown, and Tuten finished the third quarter with a short Lawrence pass he turned into a score, eluding numerous Colts on the way to the end zone. A Branson Combs interception of an underthrown Jones pass in the fourth quarter sealed a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

Jaguars Colts: Lawrence Efficient, Tuten Electric

Lawrence did not need to do much for the first time this season — and that was the point. He completed just 10 passes through the first three quarters for 210 yards and three touchdowns, finishing with a 153.3 passer rating. It was a controlled, ruthless performance against a depleted Colts side that had traded away star guard Quenton Nelson and standout defensive lineman DeForest Buckner before the game, with running back Jonathan Taylor widely expected to be next before the November 10 trade deadline.

Tuten was the game's most electric player. His 159 all-purpose yards included the 39-yard touchdown run through four tackle attempts that fans will be seeing on highlights for a while, plus the third-quarter scoring catch that closed out Jacksonville's scoring. Rodriguez added the 28-yard touchdown run, and the Jaguars finished above 150 yards on the ground for the game. With 34 or more points on Sunday, Jacksonville has now scored at least that many in its last seven home games, matching the longest such streak in a team's home stadium in NFL history, alongside the 2012-13 Broncos and 1960-61 Chargers.

Background and Context

The win was Jacksonville's first divisional victory of the year after a 34-31 loss to Houston in Week 6, and it extended the Jaguars' home winning streak against Indianapolis to 12 seasons, dating back to 2015. The last time Jacksonville lost to the Colts at home, receiver-cornerback-punt returner Travis Hunter was 11 years old. It was also the Jaguars' first home game on actual home turf at EverBank Stadium since September, their only true home game in a span of eight weeks, played in the club's new 'Bold City' Rivalries uniforms with their first teal helmets.

For Indianapolis, the context is bleaker. The Colts fell to 2-6, turned the ball over three times, and changed quarterback in garbage time — a sequence that raised more questions than answers. Head coach Shane Steichen had given no indication during the week that he would play Richardson, doubling down on Jones as his starter until he said otherwise. Then Richardson took the field with just under 12 minutes to go in a 42-7 blowout, his first taste of NFL regular-season football since garbage time of a 40-7 win over Las Vegas on October 5 last season, in which he did nothing out of the ordinary in 11-plus minutes.

Reactions and Quotes

The local verdict on Jacksonville was blunt: it was what should have happened. Against a depleted, rebuilding Colts side, the Jaguars took care of business, and the only real concern was the cost. As one post-game assessment put it, even the most dominating and lopsided win comes at a cost, the kind of cost that threatens the result of future games — and Jacksonville paid it twice inside the first 21 minutes.

Safety Eric Murray sustained a left elbow injury covering the opening kickoff and did not return. Early in the second quarter, defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton tumbled to the turf with a right knee injury as the Jaguars recovered a botched pitch on a reverse, remained on the field as the team circled around him, and was carted off and ruled out. Travon Walker was also questionable to return with a rib injury in the third quarter, and right guard Ezra Cleveland limped off in the first quarter before returning.

On the Colts' side, the Richardson cameo dominated the post-game conversation. As one Indianapolis assessment noted, teams do not fall behind 35-0 and 42-7 in the fashion the Colts did on Sunday without deeper problems, and playing Richardson raises questions for the rest of the season: whether the franchise is now openly evaluating its future at quarterback, and what owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon's next move is after a week in which Indianapolis traded away two stars and was reported open to trading Taylor, having already turned down an offer of a 2027 second-round pick.

Why It Matters

For Jacksonville, this Jaguars Colts rout matters because it restores momentum at exactly the right time. The Jaguars are 5-2, lead the AFC South race in spirit if not yet in the standings, and now face Baltimore on Thursday — just four days after a physically costly win. Whether Murray and Hamilton can return, and whether Jacksonville addresses safety and defensive tackle depth before the November 10 trade deadline, may decide whether this rout is a launchpad or a peak.

For Indianapolis, the game matters as a marker of a season that has slipped away. At 2-6, with three turnovers, a quarterback change in garbage time and a roster being dismantled ahead of the trade deadline, the Colts' remaining games are now about evaluation: of Richardson, of a depleted roster, and of a direction that owner Irsay-Gordon must soon define. Sunday in Jacksonville was the clearest evidence yet that the 2026 season, for all intents and purposes, is over for Indianapolis.

What Happens Next

Jacksonville has almost no time to celebrate. The Jaguars prepare for Baltimore on Thursday, a short-week test that will reveal how much the injuries to Murray, Hamilton and Walker matter, and whether the starters who were rested in the fourth quarter against Indianapolis are fresh enough for a prime-time opponent. The trade deadline on November 10 also looms: Jacksonville's needs at safety and defensive tackle, exposed in the first 21 minutes on Sunday, are now impossible to ignore.

Indianapolis, meanwhile, faces the hardest questions of its season. Will Richardson get a longer look in the coming weeks? Will Taylor be traded before the deadline? And can Steichen and Irsay-Gordon give a 2-6 team a credible plan for the rest of the year? The answers will come quickly, because the Colts' next games will not wait for a franchise still deciding what it is.
