What Happened

The announcement came in a video message released by Natalie and Nika Taylor on November 2, in which the two sisters spoke about their grief and about Nicole's character and approach to her diagnosis. The sisters, who performed together as Taylor Red, told fans that Nicole had fought the disease for several years and thanked supporters for standing with the family.

According to the family, Nicole Helen Taylor passed away on September 28, 2026, at the age of 35. A private memorial service attended by family has already taken place, and a memorial page has been set up where fans can donate to one of Nicole's favourite charities, Samaritan's Purse. The delay between her death and the public announcement meant that many fans learned of the loss only when the sisters' video appeared.

The sisters' video, described as emotional by several reports, framed the announcement as a farewell from the two remaining members of a trio that had performed together since childhood.

Background: Taylor Red and the Triplets from Mississippi

Nicole Taylor was born on March 18, 1991, and grew up in Hurley, Mississippi, alongside her identical triplet sisters, Natalie and Nika. The three sisters formed a musical group that performed under the name Red Roots before becoming known as Taylor Red, a Mississippi-based country trio built around their close harmonies and shared upbringing.

As a trio, Taylor Red built a following in country and Christian country circles, performing as a family act whose identity was inseparable from the sisters' bond as triplets. Nicole was one-third of that act in every sense: the group's sound, image and story rested on three voices that had sung together all their lives. Her death therefore leaves not only a grieving family but a band that has lost one of its founding members.

Fans who followed Taylor Red knew the sisters as a package, and tributes since the announcement have repeatedly described Nicole as part of a trio rather than as a solo artist.

Nicole Taylor Dies at 35 After Breast Cancer Battle

Nicole's illness began in 2022, when she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of stage three breast cancer. According to accounts shared by her sisters, the cancer later returned after a period of monitoring, and each recurrence was worse than the one before. The disease eventually progressed to stage four, and Nicole continued living for approximately a year after receiving that prognosis.

The sisters have spoken of Nicole's determination during treatment, describing a prolonged struggle across four years from diagnosis to her death.

Breast cancer diagnosed at a young age, as in Nicole's case at 31, is often aggressive, and her story has resonated with fans who have faced similar diagnoses. The family's decision to direct memorial donations to Samaritan's Purse, a Christian relief charity, reflects the faith background that also shaped the trio's music.

Reactions and Quotes

Natalie and Nika Taylor announced the death themselves, in their own video, rather than through a publicist or label statement. That choice gave the announcement a personal tone: two sisters speaking directly to fans about losing their triplet. Reports described the video as emotional, with the sisters reflecting on Nicole's character and on how she approached her diagnosis.

Country music outlets picked up the announcement on November 2, with Country Rebel reporting that the family announced the death on Monday and Just Jared confirming that Nicole died on September 28 in Nashville after her battle with breast cancer.

Why It Matters

Nicole Taylor's death matters to country music fans because Taylor Red was a genuinely unusual act: three identical sisters singing together, rooted in one Mississippi town. Acts built on family harmony carry a particular emotional weight with audiences, and the loss of one member changes the group in a way that a line-up change in an ordinary band does not.

Her story also matters beyond music. A diagnosis of aggressive breast cancer at 31, followed by recurrence and progression to stage four, is a reminder of how the disease can strike young women.

For the trio's supporters, the announcement closes a period of uncertainty, giving fans a chance to mourn and to support the family through memorial donations.

What Happens Next

The family has pointed fans to a memorial page where donations can be made to Samaritan's Purse in Nicole's name. No public memorial event has been announced, and the private funeral has already taken place. Whether Natalie and Nika continue performing as Taylor Red, pause, or reshape the group is not yet known, and the sisters have not announced any plans for the band's future.

For now, the trio's existing music stands as Nicole's legacy: recordings and performances made by three sisters who sang together from childhood.
