Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf said on Wednesday 4 November 2026 that its jailed founder, former prime minister Imran Khan, recorded a blood pressure reading of 192 in recent days, and the party demanded his immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad for treatment by his personal doctors. The claim has not been independently verified, and it is already disputed: the lawyer who met Khan says he was not the source of the alarming reports.

Key Points

• PTI said Imran Khan's blood pressure reached 192 and demanded his transfer to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad.
• The claim followed a 2 November meeting at Adiala jail between Khan and lawyer Salman Safdar, the first since April.
• His sister Rubina Khan said he had conveyed the reading of 192 and that his blood pressure had never been high before.
• Safdar said he was not the source of the reports; sources familiar with the meeting said Khan mentioned a reading near 190 but looked generally fit.
• PTI demanded implementation of a Supreme Court order of 18 August 2026 directing Khan's treatment at Shifa hospital.

What Happened

The party's statement came on Wednesday, two days after Khan met his lawyer at Adiala jail in Rawalpindi. According to PTI, it was the first lawyer meeting since April, a gap of about six months. The party said the reading of 192 was conveyed during that meeting and demanded a hospital transfer to Shifa International Hospital, where Khan could be treated by his own doctors.

Rubina Khan, the former prime minister's sister, said her brother had told the family about the reading of 192 and that his blood pressure had never been high before, adding that it was normal as recently as a year ago.

But the account frayed almost at once. Salman Safdar said he was not the source of the alarming health reports, and sources familiar with the meeting said Khan had mentioned a reading near 190 but looked generally fit, with no immediate serious medical emergency indicated. The government has not published its own medical account.

Background and Context

Imran Khan, prime minister from 2018 to 2022, has been jailed since August 2023 and faces more than 100 cases, which he says are politically motivated. His party accuses the authorities of restricting his access to family, lawyers and medical care; the government says he is a convicted prisoner serving court sentences.

On 31 October, his son Sulaiman warned that his father's life was in danger in prison, saying no one had seen or heard from him since August. The son also cited an August Supreme Court order for a Shifa medical assessment and regular visits, which the family says has been ignored. The Supreme Court order dates from 18 August 2026; the Islamabad High Court has allowed Khan twice-weekly meetings, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and was due on Thursday 5 November to hear a petition seeking permission to meet him.

Imran Khan Blood Pressure Claim: What Is Known and What Is Disputed

What is known is narrow. A meeting took place on 2 November at Adiala jail between Khan and his lawyer Salman Safdar, the first since April. After it, PTI said Khan's blood pressure had reached 192 and demanded a hospital transfer. His sister Rubina said he had conveyed the reading and that his blood pressure had never been high before.

What is disputed is almost everything else. Safdar said he was not the source of the alarming reports. Sources familiar with the meeting described a reading near 190 rather than 192, and said Khan looked generally fit. Neither version has been confirmed by an independent medical examination, and the government has not published its own account. The gap between 192 presented as a crisis and near 190 mentioned by a man who appeared well is the heart of the dispute.

Reactions and Quotes

Rubina Khan's account is the most direct family statement: she said her brother had conveyed the reading of 192 and that his blood pressure had never been high before. Safdar's response cuts the other way: he said he was not the source of the alarming reports. PTI's position is unchanged: it demands Khan's immediate transfer to Shifa International Hospital and implementation of the Supreme Court order of 18 August 2026. The government has not published its own medical account.

Why It Matters

The claim matters because Khan's health is now a political question as much as a medical one. He remains Pakistan's most popular opposition figure, and every report about his condition is read by supporters as a test of whether the state is treating him fairly. A verified scare would raise urgent questions about prison medical care; an unverified one would raise questions about how his party communicates. Access has been so restricted, with a six-month gap between lawyer meetings, that little independent information reaches the public.

What Happens Next

The next step is the Islamabad High Court hearing due on Thursday 5 November, on a petition seeking permission to meet Khan. It will test whether the twice-weekly access already allowed is honoured in practice. PTI will keep pressing for the Supreme Court order of 18 August 2026 to be implemented. Whether the authorities act, and whether any official medical account is published, will decide whether the reading of 192 becomes a confirmed episode or remains a disputed number.
