Victor Wembanyama scored 30 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the San Antonio Spurs beat the Sacramento Kings 124-109 at Golden 1 Center on Friday night, stretching their winning run to seven games in NBA Cup play and underlining just how quickly this young side has turned a stuttering start to the season into one of the strongest runs in the Western Conference.

The Spurs never trailed. San Antonio piled up 76 points in the first half, its second-highest scoring first half of the season, and the lead was still 22 when Wembanyama took his final rest with about eight minutes left. Sacramento, beaten at home again, fell further behind in the West.

Key Points

• Final score: San Antonio Spurs 124, Sacramento Kings 109, on Friday, November 6, 2026, at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, in NBA Cup play.
• Wembanyama's night: 30 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks on 10-of-18 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range.
• First-half blitz: the Spurs scored 76 points before half-time, their second-highest scoring first half of the season.
• Wire-to-wire win: San Antonio led throughout and was 22 points clear when Wembanyama sat down for the final time with about eight minutes remaining.
• The streak: a seventh straight victory for San Antonio, while the Kings lost again on their home floor and slipped further behind in the West.

What Happened as the Spurs Beat the Kings 124-109

The tone was set early. San Antonio came out scoring freely, moving the ball and finding open looks, and by half-time the visitors had 76 points on the board. It was their second-highest scoring first half of the season, and it left Sacramento chasing a game that was already slipping away.

Wembanyama was at the centre of it. The 22-year-old French star finished with 30 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, shooting 10-of-18 from the field and 4-of-6 from beyond the arc. His length changed shots at one end and his touch stretched the Kings' defence at the other, and by the time he checked out for the final time, with about eight minutes left and San Antonio 22 points ahead, the contest was effectively over.

Sacramento never found a way back. The Kings could not slow the Spurs' first-half scoring burst and could not put together a run long enough to threaten a side that has made a habit of closing games out. The final margin of 15 points flattered the hosts slightly: the game was decided well before the final buzzer.

Background and Context

To understand how remarkable this run is, remember where it started. San Antonio opened the season with two defeats, and few outside the organisation would have predicted what followed: six straight wins, including a 112-111 thriller over Dallas in which Wembanyama produced one of the great performances of the young season, and Friday's win made it seven.

Wembanyama's recent form has been extraordinary. He scored 43 points against Minnesota four nights before the Dallas game, then 52 points, 24 rebounds and eight blocks against Dallas, only the second player since 1974 with at least 50 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks in a game. Friday's 30 and 14 was, by those standards, almost routine.

The Kings know this Spurs side well. The teams met in San Antonio on October 27, when the Spurs won 130-103 behind 29 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks from Wembanyama and an 80-point first half. Friday's defeat came on Sacramento's own floor, and the gap looks wider now than it did ten days ago.

Wembanyama's Season Keeps Reaching New Heights

There is a temptation to treat nights like Friday as ordinary for a player as gifted as Wembanyama. They are not: 30 points and 14 rebounds would be a career night for most players in the league. For Wembanyama, in the best stretch of his young career, it was the latest performance putting him at the centre of the conversation about the league's best players.

What stands out is the completeness of his game. Two blocks added to a defensive presence that alters how opponents attack the rim, and his 4-of-6 shooting from three forced the Kings to defend him far from the basket. When a 7-foot-4 centre shoots like a guard and protects the rim like a traditional big man, there is no comfortable way to guard him.

Reactions and Quotes

No post-game comments from players or coaches appeared in the wire reports checked for this story, so none are quoted here. The numbers needed little embellishment: 30 points, 14 rebounds and two blocks, a 76-point first half, a wire-to-wire road win and a seventh straight victory.

Why It Matters

For San Antonio, the win matters because winning streaks in the Western Conference are currency. The West is deep and unforgiving, and a 7-2 start built on a seven-game winning run gives the Spurs breathing room few teams enjoy in November.

For Wembanyama, nights like Friday matter because they show consistency. A 52-point explosion makes headlines; following it with 30 points and 14 rebounds in a controlled road win shows it was not a one-off. The best players are judged on what they do every night, and Wembanyama is building a body of work that stands up to that test.

For Sacramento, the defeat matters in the opposite direction. Losing at home to a conference rival, and losing wire-to-wire, raises questions the Kings must answer quickly. The season is young, but the West does not wait, and home defeats to teams above you sting most in April.

What Happens Next

The Spurs will look to extend their winning run in their next outing, with the momentum of seven straight wins behind them and a star in the form of his life. The challenge is sustaining it: winning streaks end, and the test of a good team is how it responds when the shots stop falling.

Sacramento, meanwhile, must regroup quickly. The Kings need to find answers at home, where they have now been beaten convincingly by a direct rival, and to rediscover the defensive resolve that keeps them in games when their offence stalls.
