No. 2 Georgia routed No. 10 Ole Miss 42-7 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, in a top-10 SEC showdown that was never close. Quarterback Gunner Stockton accounted for five touchdowns and wide receiver Talyn Taylor caught three of them as the Bulldogs ended the Rebels' 16-game home winning streak.

Georgia led 28-0 at halftime and 35-0 before Ole Miss finally scored, outgaining the Rebels 481-252 and running for 295 yards. The win gives coach Kirby Smart his first victory at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and Georgia's first win in Oxford in 15 years, and sets the Bulldogs up for No. 1 after No. 1 Miami lost to Notre Dame the same day.

Key Points

• No. 2 Georgia beat No. 10 Ole Miss 42-7 on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium in Oxford, Mississippi, in Week 10.
• Gunner Stockton accounted for five touchdowns, throwing for four and running for one, on only nine completions.

• The win snaps Ole Miss's 16-game home winning streak and avenges the Sugar Bowl loss that ended Georgia's 2025 season.

What Happened

Georgia scored early and never let up. Taylor's first touchdown, with a little under seven minutes remaining in the first quarter, proved to be the game-winning score. By halftime Georgia led 28-0, and the margin reached 35-0 before Ole Miss finally got on the board.

Stockton was ruthlessly efficient. He completed only nine passes all day, but four went for touchdowns, and he added a rushing score. Taylor was the star, with four catches for 140 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 35 yards per reception, and his scores of 58 and 65 yards turned a top-10 matchup into a rout.

The run game gave Ole Miss no answers. Georgia ran for 295 yards on 48 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per attempt, with Nate Frazier leading the way with 16 carries for 107 yards. The defence recorded five sacks and held Ole Miss scoreless for the first 56 minutes.

Background and Context

This game carried a year of baggage. Ole Miss ended Georgia's 2025 season in the Sugar Bowl College Football Playoff game, a defeat that has lingered in Athens ever since. Saturday was the rematch, on Ole Miss's home turf, before a sellout crowd at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, where the Rebels had not lost in 16 straight games.

The stakes were enormous. Georgia arrived ranked No. 2 at 7-1, chasing the top spot in the playoff rankings, while Ole Miss arrived ranked No. 10 at 6-2, with its own playoff hopes alive. Instead, the Bulldogs erased two marks in one afternoon: Georgia had not won in Oxford in 15 years, and Smart had never won at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The result fits the chaos of Week 10. Notre Dame stunned No. 1 Miami 31-24 the same day, so Georgia is set to take over No. 1. Tennessee also beat No. 7 Kentucky 34-6, Utah beat BYU 28-20, and Oregon stunned Ohio State 41-28.

Georgia vs Ole Miss: How Stockton and Taylor Broke the Game Open

Stockton deserves a ton of credit. He was not the main focus of Georgia's offence, that was the run game, but he moved the Bulldogs down the field and protected the football. Four of his nine completions went for touchdowns.

Taylor made the difference between a comfortable win and a rout. His three touchdown catches came on just four receptions, and his 58-yard and 65-yard scores broke the game open. At 35 yards per catch, he was a big play waiting to happen.

Behind them, the offensive line and the run game set the tone. Georgia's 295 rushing yards meant Ole Miss could never load up against the pass, and Frazier's 107 yards kept the chains moving, while the defence sacked Chambliss five times.

Reactions and Analysis

The numbers tell the story of a complete performance. Georgia outgained Ole Miss 481-252, ran for 295 yards, averaged 6.1 yards per carry, and held the Rebels scoreless for 56 minutes. A top-10 opponent, at home, on a 16-game winning streak, was beaten by 35 points.

For Ole Miss, the defeat is a heavy blow. A third loss badly dents the Rebels' playoff hopes, and the offence that had carried them all season managed just seven points and 252 yards. The Rebels fall to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in SEC play.

For Georgia, the win is about more than revenge. The Bulldogs answered every question about winning a big game on the road in a hostile stadium. Georgia improves to 8-1 and 6-1 in the SEC, in control of its path to the championship game.

Why It Matters

This was one of the defining results of the 2026 season. A top-10 showdown in Oxford, between two playoff contenders, ended in a 42-7 blowout that snapped a 16-game home winning streak and a 15-year Georgia drought in Oxford in a single afternoon.

It matters because of what it says about Georgia. The Bulldogs lost their season to Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl last year, and they responded by walking into the Rebels' stadium and winning by five touchdowns. That is the kind of result that defines a championship team.

It matters for the playoff race too. With No. 1 Miami falling to Notre Dame, Georgia is set to climb to the top of the rankings and now controls its own destiny. And it matters for Ole Miss, whose season now turns on a strong finish with almost no margin for error.

What Happens Next

Georgia returns home for Week 11 against Missouri, with a chance to build on the biggest win of its season and, most likely, to play its first game as the No. 1 team in the country. The new playoff rankings come out Tuesday.

Ole Miss must regroup quickly. The Rebels fall to 6-3, and their playoff hopes now depend on winning out and getting help elsewhere. The offence that managed just 252 yards against Georgia must rediscover its earlier form.
